Hello all. I have found it really helpful reading all your threads! I am hoping someone may be able to help me with a dilemma i am having.
I am breastfeeding, taking sertraline and feeling pretty lousy. I have also been prescribed zopiclone and lorazepam. I haven't taken any of the last two as i am worried/ paraniod that they may have a bad effect on the baby. (although the Dr said they are ok to take whilst breastfeeding )
I think taking them would help me feel better but i'm really worried about it. I am considering giving up breastfeeding although i'm not sure, i think it is one good thing i can actually do for my baby!
I would be really grateful for any advice!

Hi Mouse,
I have a few friends like you,who like to try and keep breastfeeding as its the one thing they feel confident in doing. And i think that when you are suffering with pni,you tend to feel inadequate at the best of times, and need to feel 'wanted'.
I was on sertraline a while ago,but im on a different one now,but cant give much advice on the breastfeeding as i never breast fed due to a traumatic birth.I always found sertraline effective and kept my mood on an even level.
Sorry i havent been much help.

Hi Mouse Have you seen my thread on prozac I had a very simliar dilema a few days ago. I'm taking prozac which it appears I can't feed with. It's a really personal decision the breast feeding issue I couldn't advise you either way. Why don't you double check with a pharmacist for peace of mind. Are the other two meds you mention sleeping tablets or anti d's.

Hi Mouse,
Just wanted to say hi. I'm not sure about the two meds. There is a site on the net where you can check if things are ok but can't remember the name of it. Could just try typing breast feeding & drug name & see what it says.
I think you've just got to go with what you feel happiest with as far as the feeding goes. I actually felt vastly relieved when I stopped feeding as I felt quite a bit freer. However, that's me & I'm not saying that's the best thing to do. Yes it is best to breast feed for the baby but try to put yourself first and think what would be less pressure for you.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
Love Lisa xxx

Hi Mouse
I'm not really sure on the drugs and breast feeding issue but just wanted to say hi and welcome you to the forum. I wasnt diagnosed with PND until my bub was 16 months so long after stopping breast feeding. How old is your bub?
Take Care Love Carmen
