sorry my computers stupid
hey, would like to know if anyone has used paroxetine/seroxat for the treatment of acute anxiety along with PNI? im currently taking 40mg a day and worried that i might become addicted/dependant. they seemed to make my symptoms worse at the beginning but i dont know as we caught the illness early as i had it mildly during pregnancy.
i dont know therefore whether i would have got worse anyway or it was the tablets? or is it me just being paranoid and not wanting to admit that i could get so ill. anyway any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
im almost ok now by the way! love gail x

Hi GAil
I took paroxetine for 3 months, but finally had to stop as it gave me such horrendous headaches and actually exacerbated my anxiety, until I felt totally mad.
I dont know if that helps, but that is my experince of paroxetine.

I took paroxetine for ages and ages even while pregnant and when I came off had a quite easy time of it. I thik it helped me a lot. I am on something different now. but more my docs choice than mine as time has moved on. However, I feel i am not coping with my anxiet y either so who knows. I think sometimes we need a change of drug.
So many drugs and so many different tolerances wouldn't it be better if one drug helped all.??!!
Hope this helps

i think the tablets are /have worked. they must be helping as every day i seem to be improving. i suppose i just thought it'd happen quicker as when i took them for depression they worked after about a week. i thought it'd be the ssame with this - that it would disappear within a fortnight at least. It didnt. in fact i got worse before i started to get better. i think this is one of the cruellest illnesses there is but the tabs definately took the edge off it - god knows how bad i would have got without them. gail xxx

The medication side of things does seem to take agea to get right. I am now on an additional medication for some anxiety symptoms. I think there are so many variables its hard to know. i am on Cipralex now as antid and promazine, but the Cipralex did help for a while. But i think you are right the anxiety seems to the last thing to calm- depression seems to be one of the first things to lift. Maybe its because you see the world and again and think Oh dear where have I been? Can i cope??? Hope thats not too flippant. But maybe there is something in that?!!! A-M

Hi I took Paroxatine for a while but had to be taken off as it made the anxiety worse and i had a reaction called acaphysia (sorry can't spell it) it was like a inner restless in my arms and legs and my anxiety went through the roof. I'm now on an old ANTI-D Nortripyline which hasn't had the same effect. Unfortantly for me Paroxatine actually stopped the dreaed thoughts all together. Bugger. Aussie Girl Tracey

Hi Just wanted to add after seeing my doctor today she has suggested re-introducing Paroxatine very slowly along side my normal AD. I am tempted to give it a go i'll let you know how i go. Tarcey
