Hi Gail,
You're a star - you're right we shouldn't be ashamed should we?
But you've got me really curious, so I do plan to call my Union tomorrow anyway, just to see what they say.
Been face to face with students all day and can hardly string 2 words together just now!! lol.
Take care, Hxxx By the way I think your stepfather is right - inclusion and diversity are the buzz words in Colleges at the moment! But whether this applies to PNI, I just have no idea....

well, i have just sent off my application form. i mentioned my PNI in the official and proper manner required! Here's what i wrote: To Whom it may concern, this is a statement to declare a medical condition. i am currently suffereing from a post natal illness brought on by the birth of my daughter. i would like to stress that this is a temporary illness and i hope to be better by the time i begin my course in September. if you have any questions about this please contact me....
i put this in a sealed envelope for the attention of the director of the PCET. its done now and all i can do is wait!! fingers crossed.......

Well done Gail!
I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner about this - bit awkward as I don't know my employer's stance either really (not the people at the top at any rate).
If you encounter any problems, let us know and I could contact the Union for advice if you think that would help ( I have been paying into this for 12 years, so will be glad of a reason to use their service, lol)
Anyway, I thought your note was spot on, good luck Hopefulxxx

Hi Gail It seems we will probably both be on Uni courses . I have been accepted on a research degree - not MA etc just a plain old BA - I started out wanting to do an MA and have been looking for a couple of years now, but while I could get accepted for almost any MA in Education because while I do not have a degree I did teachers training in the days when it counted as a degree as teachers training did not have a degree associated with it . However I have never wanted to do Education at MA level - to be honest Educational theory would now bore me - no disrespect at all to anyone doing it, but I have simply over saturated my self with education and it is not my interest now .... and anyway my main and only reason for wanting to do an MA was to start the process of doing proper research into PNI. I could not find a MA that I could both attend ( get to the college) and would enable me to do what I wanted to do and that I would be accepted on without a first degree in a related subject. I live in Cornwall and as yet we do not even have a proper Uni in Cornwall. It is coming and in fact the main University of Cornwall building is actually up and in use and less than 8 miles form my home and other local colleges act as Uni centers - but it does not offer any course I want to do. So i was told about the course I have signed up for by Ali who is now a member of this forum. It is a BA not a MA but I decided to go back to the drawing board and do the BA because it enables me to start to do exactly what I want because it is a BA (Hons) Learning, Technology and Research www.ultraversity.net/home/FMPro?-db=UltraversitySite&-lay=main&-format=SiteDefaultNew.html&-RecID=33381&-findIt is an online degree so I do not have to get there which suits me as I can not walk well as yet - but it is not run by any fly by night correspondence school but a 'proper' Uni - Anglia Ruskin University of Chelmsford and Cambridge www.anglia.ac.uk/ruskin/en/home/about.htmlSo I can start to research PNI and use what I know of educational theory for the Learning side and the skills I acquired in technology when I did an HND in multimedia design for the technology side and to present my research findings . Its early days yet but if I do finish it I would want then to continue the research with a MA or even PHD - grand plans ay!! Well I might not get there , at 53 I did want to jump straight to a MA - but never mind this way is slower but my stand more chance of my getting there in the end. I am certain you will get into your course and we will be able to compare experiences of studying I am very excited as you can see VeriteeXX

Hi Veritee!!
Sorry I didnt reply sooner! I have been thinking about your ideas for study as a Phd -what great ideas! Do yuo intend to teach afterwards? I think you'd be great as a teacher of PNI, and of course if you need any help with it Im sure everyone would be more than willing to assist.
You will do well!
love gailxx

Oh no...
By the way, if it is any comfort at all, there are many who drop out at the beginning.... Do you mind me asking, is it BEd or PGCE?
Loads of hugs HopefulXX

the PGCE have contacted me and said that i can attend an interview and will be put on the shortlist for places in the hope that someone will drop out. This means that my interview, which includes a presentationwill be on monday : o .....eeeeeeeeeeeekkk
i think this is a bit short notice, so im going to contact the course secretary and ask if my place will be jeopordised if i dont attend this particular interview date...
