Thats great to know Fran - who is paying for this? i.e mental health team, HV, or Social services.
Some others have had a free nursery place with PNI but I think it depends on the area as to whether this is available.
It would be interesting to find out how many more have had this?

Hi I had this from g been 6months old to she was three and it was a great help and it gave her a chance to see other things around her other than a frantic, crying upset mum all the time. Mine was referred by my h.v they can go through to social services to ask for a placement and that was at first like a crisis interventin for the childs sake really as things were really bad. After a while tough it was taken over by sure start and they funded the placement after that, i just had to go to meetings to check on g's progress as they do get rather involved with making sure she was very safe and not been damaged i suppose and also to check on my progress so i wasnt taking the pee out of them really, but very helpfull. I must admitt the h.v will nto refer you if se thinks you can cope and you need to make sure it isnt brushed over like its ok you have to ask for it and then keep asking for it. I think they try to get you a home help first but in my case i couldnt as it was someone that knew me from been very young and i wouldnt have her in my life as well as everything else. Also a CPN can refer you for this aswell if they think so or a Key worker from social services. Many people can refer its just they dont make it knowledgable.

yeah i think ure right there newwie , it can come i think from different angles on pni, mine was purely telling the nursery i had pni but then i found out the h.v said she could get me free nursery too , and child tax credit will pay if ure getting dla , very handy as it does cost a rake of money and the kids do benefit eh
definitely worth asking and as newwie you rightly know its fixed isnt it for so long then you have to ask again but im gonna keep asking for it ,

I really struggled to get any thing for my Sarah but now she is at school she its easier. However, I think I was not seen as priority and told could only get it as single parent!! Guess it might differ in different areas? And at different times depending on local priorities. I was in a Surestart area - but had a husband and garden??? So no help there really.

Sorry Fran didn't mean to throw water on things - I did have some small amount of DLA - but not for PNI and I recieved child tax credit but very little working tax credit. Maybe I was asking the wrong people.
They said it was a difficult area and expensive area and funding for creche places were available if you were on certain courses for PNI - but not if I was at home or going to apointments etc. They just kept saying you must have someone you can ask??? If only it was that easy?
Maybe things are changing as my daughter is 4 and I paid privately for one day a week care.
Bye the way its BAM
