Hi all
Just thought I would start one and what food we give our little ones. My little girl is 13 months now and I have tried to take recipes out of the Baby and Toddler Meal Planner but find it so much hard work! I find it impossible to make anything that takes longer than 5 mins as little one can't be left unattended anywhere!
At the moment she eats lots of veg (cooked, mashed and frozen in advance). Cheese sarnies, jacket potatoes, anything from a jar (i know, cheat), fromage frais, fish, sausages etc (nothing amazing there!)
She refuses to eat fruit, hence the fromage frais!
So anyway that is about where we are at. Any suggestions please post here! Please!!!!
LOL

LOL! My wee one has taken to a diet of cheese, petit filous and more cheese, or she would given half a chance! She eats most things we do..loves garlic bread I've found the trick to getting fruit into her is wait til just before meal time when she's hungry then distract her with tv and get as much into her as possible..usually 3/4 banana before she twigs! She loves the adverts so I just wait til they come on..God I sound like a terrible mother writing this! I've also cut her milk down to her porridge plus a beaker in the morning and a beaker before bed, she just gets water for the rest of the day and that seems to work out ok, she's 14 months and I cut her milk about a month ago. xx

Been meaning to add this for ages. If she's flat out refusing fruit or veg I give her 'sweet' fruit ie strawberries, grapes, raspberries, ripe pears etc. She thinks she's getting a treat rather than broccoli and I feel a bit less guilty and assured she's not going to get scurvy! I have also been known to sneak pureed fruit mixed well into her fromage frais! xx

Great website caterina Thanks!
At nursey they have tried sneaking fruit in fromage frais. Apparently she ate the fromage frais before spitting the fruit out! LOL
They don't warn you about the stress of feeding your kids before you have them do they?!
Love Winegirl x

LOL! Yeah it's got to be the same consistency as the fromage frais (like when you first wean) or that doesn't work!! I keep telling myself, it's a phase and she must eat something, at some point..surely? xx

God I hate feeding time!
Mine like the following 'fast' food
Anything Heinz in a tin Quorn sausages Babybels Sqeezy yoghurts raisins
I used (and still do a bit) the annabel karmel book for family meals that kids can eat too. It's basically things like shepherds pie, pasta sauces etc. If you want, I can look up a few and post them on here

Cottage Pie 250g swede and 200g carrots, peeled and chopped knob of butter vegetable oil 450g minced beef 1 large onion, finely chopped tin chopped tomatoes 1 tbsp tomato puree 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce 1/2 tsp dried mixed herbs 1 beef stock cube dissolved in 350ml boiling water salt and freshly ground black pepper
675g potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks butter splash milk 200g frozen peas, cooked
Method: Cook the carrots and swede/sweet potato in boiling lightly salted water for 20 minutes or until tender and then mash with the knob of butter until smooth.
Heat half a tablespoon of the oil in a large non-stick frying pan and sauté the onion for a few minutes then add the minced beef for 7 or 8 minutes or until the liquid has evaporated.
Add the tomatoes, tomato puree, Worcestershire sauce, herbs and beef stock and simmer for about 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, boil the potatoes for 15 to 20 minutes, then drain. Return the cooked potatoes to the empty saucepan and mash together with butter, milk salt and pepper until smooth.
I usually puree the veg and either sneak it in the mince or the potato

I copied and pasted this with my amendments from www.annabelkarmel.com/recipesI think you have to register to get lots of recipes but it is fab for ways to hide veggies!

1 tbsp light olive oil 1 onion, chopped 2 carrots, chopped 1 courgette, chopped 1 clove garlic, crushed 1 tbsp tomato puree 400g passata 100 ml vegetable stock (I use Oxo)
Method: Heat the oil in a pan. Add the onion, carrot and cook for 5 minutes. Add the courgette and cook for a further 5 minutes. Add the crushed garlic and cook for one minute.
Stir in the tomato puree, passata and vegetable stock. Cover and simmer for about 20 minutes. Puree with an electric hand blender.
Add to Pasta
You can sneal in tons of veg to this and grate cheese on top and/or add plain fromage frais to make it nicer

Risotto
50g onion, chopped 25g butter 100g rice 150g chopped and peeled butternut squash 450ml boiling water 1/2 tin tomatoes 50g Cheddar cheese, grated
Method: Saute the onion in half the butter until softened. Stir in the rice until well coated. Pour over the boiling water, cover and cook for 8 minutes over a high heat. Stir in the chopped butternut squash and tomatoes, reduce the heat and cook, covered for about 12 minute or until the water has been absorbed.
sprinkle cheese on top
I've done this with the mince mixture from the cottage pie (instead of the butternut squash) and chucked in some peas too and Caitlin loved it
