My daughter is three on August 28th, she is bright and chatty - but just loves to keep in her nappy. I have a potty chair - she likes flushing the toilet and sitting on it. But no luck with using it.
At Nursey she goes once aweek on Thursdays she follows the other kids - but once home she reverts to 'I want my nappy'!!!
I have tried pull ups from huggies and now the new' feel and learn' pants but they don't seem to do as claimed she likes being wet as the pampers new trainer pants are good at holding water !!
So ironic feel like writing to pampers as Sarah as a model for new pants !!! and my money back lol
despairing of ever having a dry child !! Even with knickers on she just stands and wees!!!
Thanks lol

Thanks for that thought it was my opinion only....
The problem with my daughter is not so much her age but that the school nursery she is down for will not acccpet her wet and wont change her. She will be three on 28th August so will be a young starter! But I have accepted I don't want her to go-if she isn't ready. I'll wait till she is...
Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure as too what age is the right one as although I have an older son of ten-he had no speech at 3 or 4 and has since be diagnosed as high functioning austistic-so he was very late at about 5 and the special nursery he went to did change him.
Thanks
Anne-marie

hi anne-marie.
just read this and wondered if you had any tips you could let me in on. and also - how are things now. Any tips on training would be excellent. I havnt a clue where to start or how you even go about trying to. Izzy is only 14 months but i want to start introducing her to it now. i have the potty, the seat that fits on the toilet and the training pants - any advive on what next would be great - from anyone.
im going to get that potty training in a week book but i know that i always get the best advice on here so wanted to try you girls first,
thanks all

Hi Lana,
My daughter is now 3 and 5 months and did potty train really quickly after the above posts I put. The Nursery helped and in about three weeks she was mainly dry. I should have updated this really.
She now goes to the school Nursery where they have to be dry and started at beginning of Jan. I think to be honest there little toilets help! But i know you can't get one plumbed in for just a few years!LOL!
However, the potty chair we have from Mothercare(other places might do them, but I couldn't find many), they do a Winnie the Pooh one and a duck one is great (at about £12) they are just the right height for her to sit on and not squat so low as on the pottys.
Unfortunately as i didn't try training so young I am not sure what else to suggest. The nursery said lots of reminders and reassurance is best. Also you are coming up to the spring/summer and a good time not to wear anything on little bottoms to practice.
I think all you can do is show her and say what a big girl she is if she succeeds.
Ironically Sarah has had a couple of accidents this week as she ran to the Nursery loo a bit late. too busy playing!!!
Bye for now.
Any thing else I will post if I remember.

Hi Lana How are you - great to hear from you. Potty training : There is a current theory that you can train children form birth - an interesting theory www.raisingkids.co.uk/fea/fea104_womanshour.aspwww.timl.com/ipt/ i.e we can usually tell when I baby is about to wee or poo by the expression and the noises they make - and their are some women that have trained form birth and only used nappies to go out and then found the baby would ask for the toilet as they did not want to do it in a nappy... What they do is from the start as soon as they see the signs that a baby is using the toilet, they take the baby to the toilet and hold the baby over it. In the end - and before 5 months - they indicate they want to go and wait till they are on the toilet. There is a recent book on it.: www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/202-7909168-0977439Well I am not suggesting this at all - but I did use the expressions Caja made when weeing or pooing to whip out the potty - which unfortunate I had to take with me everywhere - started at about 12 months. And based on her signals and my intuition, Caja was dry quite soon Well thats what I did - I did not leave her walking round without a nappy in the house, only outside in the summer as I could not be bothered with the mess - just whipped her nappy down every tine I thought she might be going and sat her on the potty or the baby toilet seat. I am not saying it worked 100% as when Caja went to school at 4 1/2 she used to wet herself again - but we found that this was because she was scared/shy to ask the teacher if she could go to the toilet in lessons and did not remember to go in breaks I hope it goes well Lana and I hope you are now well or on your way All the best Veritee
