Hi all,
My son is 17 1/2 months and I have been avoiding his MMR. I've had lots of reminders but since getting really poorly with PNI 7 months ago I am so scared about anything like this. I am convinced he will get ill if he has it. Has anyone got any advice? I know it is a personal decision to have immunisations but I am afraid having PNI is strongly influencing my decision.
Thanks Clareyxx

Hi Clarey,
I felt the same as you -but he did have it in the end.
I also worried that PNi might have clouded my judgement and caused my inability to make a decision.
Not sure this will help, but just thought I'd share my experience
Hopefulx

Hi Clarey,
I too felt like you and hopeful, and as you know i work in NHS.
I remember asking all the consultants that I work with if their kids had it, and they all did.
In the end you have to pick the lesser of 2 evils, mmr and then the worry that you've put them at risk, or no MMR and the very real dangers frm measles mumps and rubella.
I agree that pni really clouds your judgement, but given the press surrounding MMR, its no wonder we are totally confused.
I don't know if that helped
love and hugs x.

Confession time for me, my twins are now 6 and I am still putting off them having it, I spend many a sleepless and tossing and turning night, saying tomorrow I will go and see about it, but unfortunately I still have not plucked up the courage to go. I am still so terrified of sleepless nights and fevers and the "what do I do when" situations. So I know I cannot advise you as I am too chicken to take action myself, but I so wish I could be brave and get it done as I do think that in the end it will be for the best. Good luck in whatever you decide. In fact if you do go ahead please let me know how it goes. Sending you love and hugs Chica

Thanks ladies for your replies,
I had almost got my head around to doing it and I told my parents I was going to do it next week. My Dad then goes "me and your mum wouldn't have let you have it if it was available". Now I'm all up in the air again...
Love Clareyxx
