Hello Thanks for the warning on boy's being slower.
But I've more good news too - we went into town on Saturday. I took the potty etc with me in a separate bag. We'd just got to the supermarket and LO was playing in one of the car things they have at the front when I heard him say "poo", so OH dashed off with him and the potty to the toilets. When they came back LO had done a big wee in the potty - they'd got there in time - hurray! Then later on we were in a shop up the town and he said "poo" again. So OH ran back to the supermarket toilet with him and again he got there in time and LO had another wee.
I was so pleased as that is the first time he's told me "poo" whilst we've been out. Other times he'd just wet his pants. Still early days and he had 2 accidents today, but at least there has been some success.

Yes, I know, bizarre isn't it to be so pleased about that! I think my OH was embarrassed but I'm just getting on with it.

Well done to your kiddo Flobob.
My eldest never yelled Pooh in the shops, mind you I did use pull ups when we were out, they were very convenient.. Guess I was a bit lazy ;D

I like the sound of pullups! Think thats gonna be the answer to my probs. How old are they supposed to be when you start the potty training anyway? My LO is 18 months and will tell you when she has done a poo but not that she is going to do one!

Hello We tell him that pull-up nappies are pants (because he goes into a major paddy if we mention putting on a nappy!) and so he tells us anyway. I am using pull-ups if we're out for a long time because I just don't want the hassle of carrying around umpteen pairs of pants and trousers and socks!
Not being an expert on this Winegirl, I don't know that there is a right age. My LO is 21 months and he was telling us sometimes before, sometimes during and sometimes after. So thought we might as well start and encourage him on the telling us before rather than ignoring it as then thought he might lose interest in telling us.
Sounds like your little girl is on the right track, maybe it won't be long? Or maybe she'll just be in this stage for a while? I think they all do something different to keep us confused and guessing!
Best of luck whenever you think she's ready. I bought a lovely book "My Potty Book for Boys" and there's probably one for girls. It just shows a little boy teaching his teddy to use the potty - so sweet. My LO did like reading it and seemed to get a lot from the pictures.
Best wishes, FloBob

WG,
Average age is about 2 hun. I think your little one is still young, but she's well on the way by the sounds of it. Girlies usually potty train earlier anyway. My eldest was potty trained in a week. I waited until it was summer and I knew he was ready, he was 2.5 and due to go to the school in the September. I left him without his nappy and a potty within view and within a week or two he was fully dry both day and night...it was really easy.
I was the same with the pull- ups I told him they were pants as well. In fact for the first couple of weeks at school I sent him in pull-ups just in case. I then went shopping with him and let him choose his own underpants (he chose bob the builder ones I think ~ oooo it was so long ago now) and I told him he mustn't piddle on Bob the builder now, and he never did, worked a treat ;D
