Hi
My babe has just turned 3 and is still in nappies. Everytime you put him on a potty he does a little wee, but in between when I blink, for instance, there's a lake on the floor and to be honest I find it so draining.
Do you think he's not ready, yet and I shoudl leave it a month or so before trying again? Or should I persevere? Does anyone have any tips?
He's off to nursery in Sept and as far as I know he should be out of nappies for that.
Thanks
Monica

My nephew was only dry about a month or so before nursery and he was about 4 by then. My SIL was at her wits end
She did stickers in the end with whole dry days resultiing in treats like little cars from Tesco/Asda. Good old bribery did the trick.
Another friend bought Bob the Builder pants and convinced her son that Bob didn't like getting wet

Hi All
My son was the same and at our school they wont take them in nursery unless they are dry. I think the following helped:
Staying in the house for 3 days solid and letting him go naked on his bottom half
When we went out in the days that followed putting in him in loose trousers with no pants as I feel they act a bit like a nappy
When he did wet not changing him immediately so he realised that it was uncomfortable to be wet for 10 mins or so and that I was not going to keep changing him so it would be better to go on the potty
And last but not least good old fashioned bribery everytime he used the potty I gave him a sweet or lolly of biscuit anything they like to eat, I know it is bad for them but it does work and it is only for a couple of weeks til they get the hang of it.
Keep Calm, accept they will have accidents, and dont worry if they do at nursery as my little one had a few accidents at the start and the staff seemed very relaxed about it.
That said he is still in pull ups at night, cant seem to get any success there!
Love JDM x

jdm i done exactly the same as u and it worked reli well within 2weeks my girls were dry threw the day and the oldest was dry at nite wen she was 3 my second born still were nappies at nite but im not to worried yet she not 3 till august so ill try nite time in a while but i have been told to help get dry nites limit drinks an hr b4 bedtime get them 2 go just b4 bed and then wen ur going to bed urself lift them outta bed and take them to toilet then put them bk to bed and after bout a week of doing that slowly reduce the time u wake them at until u no longer need to do it .
monika persavere with it i no it is a pain but it will just click 1 day and from then it gets easier with my second little girl i went through 10 pairs of pants 1 day and i was gonna give up and go bk to nappies but i didnt and a few days later she was only having the odd accident i found also that if u ignore accidents and make a big fuss of them wen they use potty it can help. there is a reli good book called how to potty train in a week it is brillent lots of tips and advice in it hope this helps

Hi Mon,
we're in the same boat, although thankfully nursery take them when in nappies!
Have been waiting for the good weather, to let him runaround outside without pants on, but looks like I'll just have to cope with the mess in the house LOL.
Am planning to start next week, good luck!

Still no potty success Will sit on potty for 10 mins and then pee about 2 mins after Nursery had none either, and getting slightly worried about his eczema. He has a nasty patch behind his knee, and with being wet its somewhat aggrivated. But am NOT going back!
