serious health problem???

hi every1
im reli not sure were to start but my 3rd born daughter who is 22months has had a lot of health problems since she was born she fitted at 10 weeks and had reflux and has had numerous ear throat and chest infections she has also been late to develop physicially aswell, sh edidnt walk until she was 19months and still doesnt talk she is attending physio and speech theropy and has had a hearing test done which she failed so it is being repeated some time in september she is having her eye test done in august and is seeing peads consultant on 14th aug for a multi disaplinary but the problem i having now is 6 weeks ago she got a reli bad nappy rash my dr has drew a blank now as 6 creams later and a fone call to hospital it is still bad she has had runny nappies pretty much since she was born but for the last 6 weeks i can tell u wot she has eaten by looking at her nappies (discusting lol) but the problem now is she losing a lot of weight and my hv is very concerned about her she is still eating like a horse and drinks plenty but produces excess amounts of urine she is so tired all the time and im worrying myself sick now she has had all the usual test done ie bugs (rotavirus etc) lactose intolerance acidity level PH levels thrush fungal infections viral infections bacterial infections and they all came bk clear so my hv told me on tuesday if she wasnt alredi cing peads then she wud b doing an urgent referal or sending straight up to rapid response in children wards so now im thinking the worst

any1 any ideas

Hiya Katie,

I can't offer any diagnosis, but it's interesting, because my youngest daughter has the same problem with her nappies. Her food isn't ever digested properly, and she can poo up to 5 times a day. Hers have never been solid, and she gets a lot of nappy rash because of her runny poo.
When is she next seeing her doctor? Mention it to them, or maybe you could call the hospital and ask for some advice?

Being told something like this always sonds drastic and therefore serious. What you have to bear in mind is they are dealing with a young child here, they will want to find out what is wrong as quickly as possible as children of this age are more vunerable. She is tired because her body is not getting the nurishment it needs. Try not to worry the main thing is they are on top of it all.

Hey

they're always really careful when it comes to little ones as they dehydrate so quickly. That can make you really tired too. I can remember reading about 'toddler diarrhoea' in the 'birth to five' book I had given to me when my eldest was born. It sounds like that and didn't mean anything other than their bodies not digesting food properly and it would fix itself as they got older and developed.

Obviously, I'm no expert and the peads will be best placed to look into it. Try not to worry (silly advice I know)
