I need help with what to do about my sons 5th birthday (end of Oct). There is no way on earth I can have a home party and entertain the kids myself, just not up to it. He has been promised a party, because we did have one sorted ages ago, with an entartainer who does the full 2 hours, but it was a joint do with a friend and they have since pulled out, now we ar stuck. Can't afford to do this alone and the next cheapest option is a bouncy castle party for £90, still a bit steep to be fair coz there is food on top too. He has just changed school and has a very small class and only a few he gets on with so doubled with is old friends I rekon we could get away with something small and therefore cheaper but WHAT Whe I was a kid we used to have the old Wimpy parties, but I don't think MacDonalds or likewise do that anymore?? Please help, I only have a short while to plan and book it.

leisure centres are very good as you get to spend the whole day there. the kids can go off and do football and games and they do a proper spread with party bags at the end.
good luck x

I'm surprised Macdonald dont do that anymore! I had my 7th birthday there it was fab!
What about one of these indoor play areas? You pay them a price and they throw the food and everything in?

I think Winegirl is right, something like Wacky Warehouse would be good.

I just had a bouncy castle party , but mine was a small one and £50. Then I do live "up north". We still had games though and the stress was similar to doing lots yourself.
Wacky Warehouse or similar is good as it is all taken out of your hands ... But I had a 12 year old to entertain too and he is too old for there.. Next year I will suggest he doesn't come and just concentrate on my 5 year old..
However, depending on numbers at the indoor play centres ! As you pay per child it might meet the £90 mark quite quickly.. Any way..
Have to say i like the bouncy castle too.

Thanks everyone.
Its been a trick one coz also of is friends live local and can't or won't drive too far. This rules out alot really. I've added up the pros and cons and gone for the bouncy castle after all. Jay is quite happy with it which is what counts. We get 2 bouncy castles in the local centre for 2 hours and space for 30 kids, we do have to provide food but that shouldn't be too bad if thought out properly. Also means we get 2 weeks to find the £90 (I booked it today) and then til end of Oct to buy the food, party bags etc. Probably the best we can do right now. Joey was always going to have this for her birthday in April anyway, might be worth me looking into membership if we are going to have 2 birthday partys a year to contend with.
