Hi all, My little one is going through a screaming phase at the moment, I have done all the usual, Check nappy, feed, Nap, Teething gel, Calpol but nothing seems to be working. Does anyone have any tips that might be useful to distract her from screaming and crying constantly? Anita x

Hi Anita Just to add to Scarlet's recommended sites: www.cry-sis.org.uk/My strategies probably are not recommended, but: - I know I couldn't drive in depths of PNI, but some can - and after my first I did it alot in terms of driving with music on (loud!) - My second liked being in the pushchair with baby Einstein videos/ music (available at Mothercare) - My second again - had the radio on alot (Radio 2 - showing my age) - I dimmed the lights and had a strip of shining stars and turned his bouncy chair towards them. Sorry, not much help I guess, but these things gave me a bit of reliefx

Hi Anita
My LO did nothing but scream for the first few months of her life. Still dont know why, guess sometimes they just cry for the sake of it! It does get better hun I promise. My LO would quieten down if in the pushchair or somtimes if rocked in her bouncy chair.
How is she doing now babes?

Back to that website - they say:
Still crying?
Put baby down, shut door, walk out of room for a break Give baby to someone else for a few hours if possible Use any time away from baby to look after yourself. Eat well and unwind Go out with baby Phone your Health Visitor, GP, the CRY-SIS Helpline, friend or relative Adapted with kind permission, from Pat Gray's " Crying Baby - How to cope "
In terms of first one - 'put baby down' - it didn't always work, but I would put him down and then go into my bedroom opposite where I had a pile of trashy mags. He was usually asleep/ stopped crying when I was 1/2 way through one of these.
When I was really ill - I rang a nurse at NHS Direct and by the time I had finsihed talking to her - he was asleepx
Thinking of youx

Vibrating bouncy chair Pushchair around the living room Cbeebies (on louder than normal to get their attention) music (again loud - that was for me though)
For mummies fag and orange juice hiding in the garden (I did this more times than I can remember!) It's bad, but before I gave up AGAIN, they got me through wanting to scream like a small child

Hopeful - I used your tactic sooooo many times. Hoovering helps too if you're feeling bad about enjoying yourself while they're crying, because you can always think that the cleaning does need to be done sometime, and you can't hear them crying with the hoover on. Plus babies seem to quite like the hoover noise! It does get better which you know with the second one so just hang on in there Anita. Each day seems so long now but in a year or two you'll look back and it'll feel like it's gone by in the blink of an eye. Hope you get some quiet soon. x
