My eldest 2 and half is really into arty things. He loves painting and colouring etc. He has really excelled in his playgroup at the making stuff sessions. He wants to do the same at home. We have been but I'm running short of ideas. I thought about one of those books telling you what to do but I wasnt sure how good they were. Today we made paper chain snakes with pop up eyes and tongues. He loved it. We did lots of scribbles on the paper in respective colours and then I cut them into strips for the chains. Think I'm going to make a budgie for him nxt and we can make one together 2moro. Wish me luck Anyone have any other idea? My brain is running short. Sarah xx

Here's a few of mine, Dress the lady Get a old catalogue and cut out a lady in underwear (or man) and then cut out the clothes and get your LO to glue the clothes on with a pritt stick. This is a fave of mine, not craft, but keeps them occupied for a whole 5 mins. Buy couple packs of vibrant coloured straws and put a few old milk bottles on the floor, throw the straws into a mixed pile and tell your toddler to colour code them into the bottles, one bottle for each colour, then go off and make yourself a cuppa . Get an old coathanger and lots of old beads or buttons, and some wool. let your LO thread the buttons onto the wool and then tie onto the coat hanger for a mobile. cut out and make lots of snowflakes and then put lots of glitter on them, or a lollystick in the middle and make a butterfly. will think of some more Sarah, but today I am so blooming tired due to having only a couple of hours sleep last night, that I'm actually moving at snails pace and my brains not functioning (what's new). I tried to nap just now with my LO, but he woke up and now I have to get him lunch. Anyways I'll be back refreshed tomorrow as I'm gonna get hubby to do the night shift tonight.. Hope alls well with you, I saw your post about your m&d and will respond soon. love and huggies Scarlet xxxxxxx check out this site I found for loads of stuff www.freekidcrafts.com/free_kid_craft_ideas.html

Hello Scarlet That is a really good website - what I find difficult is organising myself to have stuff ready to do with LO. It's like having homework to do every night - LOL. Anyway, for simple colouring pages I found this site: www.coloring-book.info/I have a load of used paper so print the pics out on to that and LO is then happy painting. I find it really handy as I can never find regular colouring books in the shops - but I think I'm probably looking in the wrong places. And this is probably cheaper. FloBob

Hi WG,
What we did when steven was younger was:
SPLAT MODELS Salt dough, I made it and made 'models' as such and let him splat them with paint. Its a great thing to keep and he played with the dough while I was making stuff. His favourite was the splats. Whats I did was make it look like a splat, ie almost star shaped, and he painted on it.
FOOT PRINT ART Whats also great is running foot prints. Get her to sit while you paint her feet and let her stamp about on a piece of large paper. If you give it a wipe and do another colour or a sort of stripped pattern etc on her feet with diff colours.. It makes a great picture. I put it in a big clip frame, u knnow the ones with just the backing and a piece of glass with little clips on the edge. I wrote on the bottom corner his name and his age and when it was done. Its great everyone comments on it when they come in the door. He had such fun doing it. Its something you can do over a few days as its good to let some on them dry before adding more on top.
I'll try and think of more for you. We've done so many you forget lol

What about some homemade playdough WG, I made some for my eldest when he was a LO. Can't remember if he ate it though, but it was nice and squishy and he made a few shapes. You can give her some plastic cookie cutters as well. How to make it www.creativekidsathome.com/activities/activity_8.htmlAlso what about making some little puppets using socks and draw on eyes with marker pens, or with well sewn on buttons, here's one I made earlier
