I'm worried about my eldest, nearly 3 now.
Hes been ill for months now. Really grey in colour. His eyes look almost green round them. Hes not eating much at all. Lost alot of weight. drunks lots. I meaured it and it can be as much as 2 litres day. This is on days when hes not running about etc. Hes not well enough to run about. His moods are terrible, not just terribe 2s tho, I mean really grumpy. He just wants to sit and do nothin. He is so tired all the time.
I'm concerned about him. Alot of ppl have commented on his health lately and its getting worrying.
His dad is diabetic. I automatically though that but hes young kind for that just yet.
I've seen the Hv about it a few times and she keeps passing it off. I've been to doc a few times but its usually just a virus we get told and he improves for a wk then down again.
Any one have any thoughts? Could this really just be a virus?

It may well be a virus but go with your gut insticnts - even though PNI can blur them they are usually reliable - keep taking little one and talking to the doc - get a second opinion or even take to A&E if you feel the need - get blood tests and everything - just so you can be reassured. You know your son better than anyone else and if he's his usual self. Off food is not unusual for a short term but this sounds like it's dragging on a bit.
Don't want ot panic you at all but as others are noticing it shows it's not in your head or anything and virus' often need treating anyway if they go on too long.
Please dont' take no for an answer if you're worrying about your lad.

Hi
I so agree with Yoyo. Push for some tests too be done on little one. Maybe it is a virus it would be a good idea to rule out other illnesses espcially diabetes so that can run in families. I know a little boy who was diagnosed with diabetes as a toddler so anything is possible.
All the best

I'm with the others here, get it seen to. I also know of children of 3 or less being diagnosed with diabeties. I would certainly go back to doc and say you want him tested for it. Let us know.

Ditto. Virus' can go on for weeks, but if I were you I would take him back to the doctors and really lay it on to them that you are not hapy that it is just a virus and you want someone to check him out properly. I find the only way you get some docs off their bums is to really lay it on thick.
Take him, and give them so grief hun. It prob is just a virus but its always right to check every possibility.

Cheers girls.
We're talking about months here. Mum and I were just talking its been like 6months hes been like this. He seems to be ill for a few weeks real bad then pick up for maybe a week but still not right. He seems to be so grumpy too and thats not him, hes a happy child, infact one of those always on the go kids and hes gradually gettin down and down.
I'm going to call 2moro am and get it sorted out. Take a urine sample with me too. i'll push them to sort it. Mum says she'll come in too to make sure I manage to push it and they dont think I'm over-reacting with the pni.
Let u know xxxx

Right doc this afternoon.
He checked him over and thankfully no sugar in his urine but he said himself that something needs checked into more for it to be going on this long and him to be losing weight etc. There was nothin obvious to him. Typically he seemed a little less grey this morning!
We are being refered to peadiactrics at the hosp for further tests. It should be thro in about 2 wks. He said its likely he will get blood tests etc and be checked over more throughly.
So we'll see what happens. He was really nice and didnt look at me like I was over-reacting. I felt at ease there so it was nice to be able to talk freely about symptoms etc. He actually said I was prob right to be concerned as he would be too.

HI
i agree with all of the above, you are obviously really concerned so push for something to be done. i sounds as if there is something going on with his health and both you and him deserve to get it investigated.Good luck and keep us updated.
