I am 5'2" and recently keep putting my back out - well straining it and it means it seizes up for a few days each time.
I have a feeling it is because of lifting my LO out of her cot. We have one of the bigger cots that turns into a bed eventually and she is on the highest setting at the moment. I struggle to reach the mattress when changing the sheets and now think that as she is getting heavier and heavier it is doing my back in.
She doesn't sit or stand up in it yet so I have to lift her from her laying down and when she does sit and stand we will have to lower it anyway.
Am in so much pain today cos It went again this morning and it makes me so tearful and impatient with everyone.
Does/did anyone else have this problem or am I just a wuss? Any ideas on how to help - apart from get DH to pick her up all the time (!)
Thanks
xx

i would go to the docs and get checked out just in case theres an underlying problem. but other than that, its a bloody good excuse for lots of massage and hot bubble baths

no problem. its recommended that you should have a back massage once a month if you have a strenuous job or have young children. have the baths as hot as you can coz it really helps!!

I'm printing this off to prove to oh that I NEED massages - it's not a want, it's clearly a genuine requirement :-)

LOL!
I have convinced my DH and even found the salon up the road to me does them for just £12.50. Well impressed! At spas they are usually like £30- £40! Will give it a go next week and hopefully it's good and I can keep going!
Am very pleased with myself for looking after 'me' for a bit.

Good for you re: sorting out massage - we mums often forget about ourselves.
RE: back, I've had a bad back for years but lifting kids (mine were quite light too) meant that mine 'went' on several occasions, which would leave me in agony and unable to move. It turned out I had weak pelvic floor muscles and a physio gave me exercises to do to strenghten these. She also said the worst thing I could do was lug a car seat around. I later had an epidsode fo bad sciatica and also had a bit of physio.
I would advise to get yourself to the drs and insist they refer you to physio so then can help you with the problem as you're quite right they're only going to get bigger and heavier.
Enjly that massage!

Thanks monica - the first time it went was when I lugged her around in the car seat as she was getting heavier in it - so I stopped after that.
Defo getting myself to the docs next week.

Yeah I suffer too, though I always figured it is because I am 5'2" yet my daughter who will be 2 in just over a week is the size of a 4 year old (takes after her dad). The car seat is the killer - especially if you are fighting to get them in it! LOL x

Just a cake and bit of jelly and ice cream - other than that I think we are having a day at the local farm park.
Yeah, being a dwarf stinks sometimes, I still cant reach the clothes out of my wardrobe without a step!

If it makes you shorties feel any better it's no better being a giant!! ;D I'm 5'11" and struggled so much with lifting bub out of her cot that we made it into the bed setting long before she was ready just to save me becoming a total crippled wreck!! Plus I can't wear killer heels coz I dwarf my hubby!! But that' s a different issue! ;D ;D xxx
