Withdrawal symptoms from venlafaxine/Effexor

Hi,

I've been taking these ADs since last July and have been suffering from fatigue (which can be quite chronic somedays) for the past couple of months, has anyone experienced this too? My pnd is better so I can only think that it's the tablets.

Decided to solowly come off of the tablets as PNI better but I feel rotten. Was originally 225mg, went down to 150mg for 3 weeks and now on 75mg but feeling dizzy, extremely tired, nauseaous and panicky. Did anyone else suffer this? If so, how long did it last?

I am coming off Venlefaxine and have been for several months. I did it over a year ago too quickly and suffered! Unfortunately i had a PNI relapse (husband lost job and had to move house) so went back on them. I can't stress enough that you have to do it so slowly as the side effects are awful. You might even be off them now as i see your post was several weeks ago. Let me know how you are doing. I am on 75mg per day at the moment and am daring myself to take the next step!!

Totally agree hun!

Too many people come off their meds too quick and suffer the consequences, it really has to be a very gradual process.

A cpn recommended taking evening primrose/vit b supplement as this can help boost you when coming off antids - might be worth checking out.

Well I did come off of the venlafaxine and did have a rotten few days with even an halucination (joy!). It turns out that the dizziness etc was due to an underactive thyroid and I was prescibed tablets which I still take everyday.

I fell pregnant again and gave birth to another little girl in May and unfortunately the PNI has returned. I'm currently on prozac as I suffered from nightsweats on venlafaxine but it looks like I might have to go back on them and suffer the sweats as my anxiety is getting bad. I've only been on prozac for a couple of weeks but it doesn't seem that they are right for me. Life just isn't easy, is it ?!!!

I know your last post was a little while ago but just wondered what you decided to do with going back on the venlafaxine. This drug seems to be the next step for me after 3 different ssri's not really helping and am scared stiff of going on it! I hope things have settled down for you now, would be lovely to hear from you xx

Sorry for delay in replying. I did go back on the venlafaxine as prozac didn't agree with me and just heightened my anxiety. I'm currently on 150mg, not totally over the PND but definately feel better than when I was on the prozac. I've just gotta keep telling myself that it will take time.

Are you on venlafaxine now?

Im glad you are feeling beter with the meds, as you say, it does take a long time but you will get there.

I didn't / haven't started on the venlafaxine due to some other complications but thanks for letting me know how you're getting on with it....i hope you continue to go from strength to strength x
