Hi girls
Had my implant out today and wanted to ask if any of you have it / had it?
My PNI started not long after i had my implant put in last year.
A friend mentioned to me when I told her I'd been feeling down, that it commonly causes suicidal thoughts and depression... and a few of her friends had had it taken out for that reason.
Anyway I continued on through it ...and as the PNI came out fully months later I dealt with that on it's own.
The reason I had it taken out ultimately was because I would have periods for 2 months at a time, bleeding one day heavily then off again the next day, that was my contraception!! Lol so my partner and I discussed it and decided it was best for us if I go on the pill and get it taken out.
Now I've had it out I am really hoping it had affected my moods back then... and that once it's out of my system tomorrow I may feel 'clearer' again. I'm trying not to get my hopes up but I can't help it!!
Just wondering if anyone else has any implant experiences to share?
Nat xxx

Hi,
I had the mirena coil fitted about 6-8 week after birth - never had it before. I started feeling ill a 8 weeks, reaching crisis point at 8 months. At this point, we wanted to leave no stone unturned and had it taken out. GP suggeste no more hormonal contraceptive and hubby had a vasectomy. Started recovery. Could be a coincidence I guess, but in my experience the minera made things worse, but know for some that hormonal contraceptive can actually help.
Hope things improve for you x

Never had anything like it as wouldnt touch them. Have known people who had implants and they turned into very unhappy people. Not known of one person who had the implant who was happy with it. Just personal opinion Liz x

I had the Mirena fitted about a year ago now, four months after baby no 2 and my meds have had to be increased since having it fitted but the benefits of the lighter periods and only one day of PMT, not seven, a month far outweigh that!
The bad news is however that it has taken a year for it to settle, I bled constantly for the first 6 months and my GP said to persevere and that most people give in. Only now am I starting to feel the benefits.
Hope you feel better soon xx

I had the mirena coil fitted too. I have 3 children and have only suffered PNI after the last 2 - both times i had the coil fitted?! coincidence? i don't know but anyway i had mine taken out last year after finally having enough of the moods/the thoughts the feelings etc and i had the copper coil (no hormones in it) fitted last year and guess what!? i feel fab. I did a post in the 'sex and stuff' section if you want to have a wee read.
hope you get it sorted out and feel better soon.xxx
