A poem...thingamabob

I wrote this about a week or so ago. I just had to get it out. Be warned though, I'm not good at poetry so this probably breaks every rule set in the poetry world.

Dream a little Dream

Weary weary all the time
I'm spread out on the burning road
My feet bleed and my back is scorched
From the crucifix; my heavy load;
I have nothing to keep me moving on
And everyone just pass me by.
Life is a highway
I've got no will to transport myself,
And I can't see the walk to the end.

I want to close my eyes
and lose myself in other worlds
where I can be someone else
do something else
feel another way,
Where I can be with those
I love and hold dear,
where I never have to say goodbye
and the hardship of life
can never touch me there.
I can have a cup of tea
in a sunny garden with my auntie,
and talk about things
we have to look forward to.
I can listen to music
and dance with my cousin,
I can tell my Nana
that it's okay,
I can tell my uncle
that he is in a better place,
I can hug my grandad
and tell him how sorry I am
for not staying a little bit longer that day.
I never got to say goodbye,
I never made the effort
to let you know how precious
you all have been to me.

So is it any wonder
That when life hands me lemons
And people scoff at me
And I become a burden
to one and all
that all I want to do is go to sleep?
