Hi
I have taken antid's for many years now, and because of the sedating effects of the meds [and probably me eating too much whilst not being well] has made my size go up and up.
I take large doses of Trazodone and Lamotrogine, they help with the anxity and depression , but do make me feel heavy like I am carrying around a big weight on my back as well as the fatigue from the depression .
I have tried lots of diets, but do not seem to be getting anywhere only to continue to grow. I am now 17st 6lb and I am horrified and feel upset and repulsed about it all. I find it difficult to think up what to eat and also to not be too tired to be on my feet to manage to cook anything sensible. I tried weight watchers a few years ago and stuck to it ridgedly but as the weight did not come off they finished with me saying to go back when I was not on meds. And I have tried to go on a diet scheme at the GP surgery but it all got messed up as all the options available did not seem to take me on, I got refered to the weight management at the hospital but I was too unwell with anxiety to be able to go so I had to cancel and they they 'un-refered me!!!']
I have been reading online and after weeks of thought I emailed a consultant for the Cambridge Diet, I had know idea how I would manage such a srick diet but I knew it would be easier without keep thinking up what to eat, but they have replied that I would need to visit my GP to discuss reducing my dose of meds and supply a letter to say I had done so.
So that is the end of that idea as there is no way I can reduce the meds.
I also have bothers as Hubby has just been diagnosed with prostate cancer so I will be sort of stress over the next months and I am frightened that my weight might go up again.
Has anyone found anything to help while on meds?
Your ideas would be appreciated
Thanks
Lindy
