Thanks Monica, day two of taking them - so far the side effects haven't been too bad.

Deb
Listen don't read too much into side effects. I find that no matter what they are....they will never out way the awful feeling of having PND! So keep positive!
Also, I rember not wanting to sit in the living room with my hubby and baby because I kept looking at them thinking about when I wouldn't be here!!! Even though I wasn't suicidal I was more concerned that I wouldn't recover and would loose my mind! I remember being soooo scared at how insignificant we are as humans! I literally would see something on telly and think the world was going to end. It's such a dreadful part if the illness and for me I do think that those first few weeks on the meds...it felt worse! But after that it gets better and better.
Hang in there and write 'everything' down. You 100% need CBT counselling. Your brain is like a muscle and it needs retrained. My counsellor says there is no such thing as thinking positively! It's all about thinking 'more balanced'! Makes sense as we are all human :-)

Thank you again - that's how I have been feeling constantly. I haven't been able to go more than ten minutes without thinking things like that. It is good to know that I may come out of this and not have as many thoughts..

I'm writing this here as not sure who to share it with.
So have woken up this morning feeling really bad, I hope this is what they mean about the thoughts getting worse before they get better. I just don't know what to do anymore (I don't mean anything bad especially as that's my biggest fear), I really really just want them to go away and for me to be like I was before...I don't want my first thought in the morning and last ones at night to be terrifying ones...and throughout most of the day too...I just wish there was an answer...

So a quick update, been on the Sertaline for 12 days now, mornings are still tough and I'm still having the thoughts but as the day goes on I am noticing there is a bit more space between them and I can counteract them a little, go back to the GP on Wednesday so we'll see what happens then..

Hi Monica, Thanks for asking, I'm not too bad, I do seem to have lost some of my motivation, I have to force myself to go out sometimes, it's almost like the house has become a safe space so I keep making plans I have to keep. Just wish I could make the thoughts go away then I would be fine....

Just wondering if PNI can be worse if you are tired? I have been feeling a little better over the last few days but my LO has now started waking in the night again and with the heat, I didn't sleep too well last night, today the thoughts seem harder to bat away or maybe I'm just not trying enough..

Oh my goodness yes yes yes. My PNI hits the roof when I'm tired! Hence why first thing and last thing in day are the worst! But because your brain is working overtime and your having to use all your concentration on simple things...you may feel exhausted during day at times too! And the anxiety follows which then triggers the low mood.
Well that's how it is with me and my therapist guy explains it this way which makes sense. Body is in fight or flight which drains your energy as it's a physical symptom. It's like a vicious circle isn't it? It's no wonder you feel so bad if you are up in night that many times. Best thing you can do is just accept it! Sounds odd but you know you will get through the day and be ok. Get as much sleep as possible and see if anyone else can give you the odd break with your little one. Lie in a bath and eat chocolate! Go for a walk! Getting out in the open air is last thing you feel like but it's good for the mind and soul.
Keep in touch and let me know how your getting on past few days???

Tiredness was a trigger for blips . Even now if I get overtired my mood tends to dip. Try and get some rest if u can - easier said than done I knowx

Thank you everyone for your replies, I have been doing a little better since my last post, still have the thoughts that most people wouldn't but they are further apart now. Also my tablets are now not the first thing I'm looking for in the morning - also I've had a few counselling sessions through work which seem to have helped but as they only pay for five, I also kept my appt for the NHS Counselling, they are just deciding whether talk therapy or CBT would be better for me so hoping to hear more about that this week..
I really appreciate all the support you give :-)
