Hi
Sorry things are difficult for you today. I can remember the panic attack/anxiety and they are so horrible. I'm sure this is a temporary blip and things will get better. Try and hold onto that.
It's super your husband has called your CPN.
Love
Monica

spoke to my c.p.n she rang my doctors to get me an appointment to sort out my meds. the doctor has up my tabs to 150Mg's and has given me diazipam to take when i get a really bad panic attack and i have to take two to get me to sleep at night. Ive been diagnosed with p.p but i don't understand why cos i didn't know half the things i was doing until my partner told my doctor. he said i sometime lose concentration and stare in to space, go into a trance, run around like mad cleaning as if there muck everywhere then get really exhausted and emotional. i often find myself in tears for no reason.

Hi Hannah
I am so sorry you are feeling ill - is it a cold or is it flu or is it to do with your illness? They do get more clingly when you are unwell - and just when you want to be left alone too.
Is anyone with you who can take Peter for the evening?? Let us know how ou are in the morning?
I will ask this in the PP section and here.
I was just wondering if your doctor by PP meant Puerperal Psychosis or Postnatal Psychosis ?
As on here different women have been given either diagnoses when to us they sounded from the symptoms they described that they were suffering from the same illness and pretty much the same as many of us who had the diagnoses of PNI and had psychotic symptoms.
There are so many diagnoses that are given o women on here and one of them that women have been diagnosed with is Post natal Psychosis
- which in the text books and the doctors minds at least is quite a bit different from Puerperal Psychosis!
There are so many labels given for women who's PNI symptoms goes a bit beyond what doctors normally believe PNI or PND to be ...
so if a woman has symptoms such as disorganized thinking of any kind, hallucinations, bazaar thoughts and maybe even actions but it does not quite 'fit ' the puerperal psychosis model they work to often women will be diagnosed with such things as post natal psychosis or severe depressive psychosis
and that some even diagnose Puerperal Psychosis when another may diagnose severe PNI.
It is quite confusing to us on here to say the least - as it is our understanding that with Puerperal Psychosis we would be a medical emergency and need hospitalization, yet some are diagnosed with this and do not need this and still others are given even more labels !!
So that it is not always certain to us that if you are given a different label but your symptoms are similar to another women with another label- whether we are having the same experience or not?
Therefore on here labels are not important - all that matters hear is that you find the site supportive and you can relate to some of the issues we talk about . But out of interest which PP did your GP mean?
All the best

had a bad night. my partner had to phone the out of hours surgery cos i was shaking, kept being sick and felt as if i was drunk. the doc said i was having a reaction to the diazipam and has advised me to stay off them. and to see my doctor on Monday. so feeling really let down by my doctor didn't feel as if she had time to talk to me when i went to see her the other day and ended up having tabs that made me feel poorly.

Been there too Hannah Ringing NHS direct trying to get to speak to a dr at 3am - then wondering what to say because you dont actually have a physical symptoms and you dont really know what you want them to do for you - just somehow make it allgo away which unfortunately they cant over the phone! Bad reactions are horrid - I had one to Lustral when in hospital. Was the first tab they tried me on and on the 2nd day of taking it I collapsed, could see trails everywhere and couldnt stand up. Took several days for it to get out of my system and then Iwasnt sure if it was the tablets making me bad or the illness. Didnt want anymore tablets after that as I was terrified they would make me like a zombie or out of control but luckily I trusted them. I tried diazapam too before I went into hosp - it was prescribed by my GP - it didnt suit me either. Made me just spacey and still coldnt sleep. Lorazapam has really helped me control my panic attacks - doesnt give me the spaciness, but I'm sure that now your dr knows that diazapam doesnt suit you he will be able to find something that does. Take care Marion.

Oh I am so sorry Hannah
Different medications can disagree with different people - this is why I did not take anyhtign when I have PNI - too sacred really.
This is because at 17 - in 1970 I was admitted for anxiety and given many different medications that made me feel worse than the original illness so I was too scared ever again to take anything .
I was admitted for a level of panic attacks caused by adolescence and worries because my mother was going blind and my father was not able to look after us - but it was to a very different mental health service that exists today
and for a anxiety illness that today probably would be treated at home..
but as a very scared 17 year old I was admitted to an old style mental health institution and given many different strong medications, many of which made me feel very ill .
I know that this is not your experience but I wanted to explain as I am worried that if I say I really know what it is to take medication that makes you worse - and very sick - rather than make you better ...
you might not believe me as when I had PNI in 1989 to 1994 I refused all medication so I can not relate to being prescribed anything except sleepong tablets for a short time for PNI.
But I do know how dreadful it can be to be prescribed something that does not suit you at all!!!
So all I can do is sympathies with you and say stop taking it and go back to your doctor.
Many have found on here that what used to be called 'major tranquilizers' and are now called 'anti Psychotics' work better with fewer side effects for the symptoms you describe i.e Promazine, Chlorpromazine,Fluphenazine, haloperidol, or the atypical antipsychotics' amisulpride, aripiprazole, clozapine, olanzapine, quetiapine, risperidone, and zotepine.
But I am no doctor so all we can really suggest is to stop taking what upsets you and go back.
If medication is to work for you it is largely not an exact science at all and one of trail and error
I know doctors hate being told what to prescribe but maybe you could suggest this to him? That he tries a different type of medication??
Good luck I really feel for you at this time
It is bad enough to suffer this type of illness -0 but to have to suffer side effects form medication often feels like the final straw
we are here for you
