when in conversation with health professionals i always get "you'd be surprised how many people are going through the same as you" - like i care. That doesnt help me to get better. Its ok for them as they dont have pni and carry on with their happy perfect lives

"is your husband good with you thats a good one" "go out have a drink!(my husband and i are recovering alcoholics)havent drank for 7 yrs apart from that its impossible to go anywhere without kids as i have no family to babysit! "maybe you just need a good nights sleep"! (I WISH) our baby has been a livley one from the start i breast fed to begin with and survived on the odd nap as feed times seemed to blend into one another hes always been difficult to feed and has cryed an awful lot docs and health visitors found no problems its just the way he is ! hes improving now he sleeps better and enjoys solid food but ive had people suggest we are total wimps or we are exagarating and say"youre probably spoiling him" sooo annoying when you know you have been working really hard just to get through the day! oh and a neigbour saying" ooo heard your little one crying last night " that just made me parranoid thinking they are spying. think that was more of a rant that answering the original question ...lol... love zombimom xxx

My current favs are:
"Have you tried Chamomile Tea?" - er, yeah, I'm sure that will be my miracle cure "Prehaps a walk would do you good?" - considering it is 3pm and I am still in my pjs, no, it wouldn't. "Isn't is a lovely day?" - you mean, for a walk? I pray for rain so I don't have to leave the house. "You'll feel better after a bath."- no, I'll feel cleaner.

I hated it when I told my boss that I have PNI/PTSD and suffer with depression etc. She very slowly..... looked at me.... from head to ....toe, and... very slowly...back up again.
And said 'YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW!!!!
I will not for give her for telling me that to reduce my antid's, they should give me some placebo SUGAR pills!!

And said 'YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW!!! yep, maybe there should be a sign on our foreheads sometimes. When I was in the hospital a nurse (supposedly experienced in depressive illnesses) told me "you've got to pull yourself together now, you're gonna be a mother soon" (I was 36 weeks pregnant and in the acute stages).

This thread is great, I've chuckled all the way through it. The one that really gets my goat is "twins, wow, that must be such hard work no wonder you're struggling". Actually the twins are a dream and about a million miles from the horror I was told to prepare myself for. I want to say to them, OK, your call, either take my twins and deal with them for a few days or take my crazy mind and live with that for a while, coz the latter is def a hell of a lot harder than the former. In the same vein I got "yes, no one ever tells you how tiring babies are"- actually I was well aware of how tiring babies are- the bit no one told me was how tiring being mad is. Another brill one (I laugh now about it but at the time was so cross) the 1st friend I told I was nuts said "do you think you have trouble sleeping because you don't do enough in the day to tire yourself out like you did when you worked"- yes that's it, I lie awake all night in a constant state of panic because two babies isn't enough to acheive tiredness! And they think we're mad? ?? xxx
