I didn't post last night because I was full of mixed feelings and contradictions but now I've slept I'm feeling alot better and more positive.
We went to have a second attempt at the 3D scan yesterday and as per usual baby wasn't having any of it or more to the point the fluid is low and making it difficult to get a decent pic. They did however determine the gender, which I know I said I wasn't going to ask but curiousity got the better of me. I can't say what it is though coz hubby doesn't know
Anyway they then went on to do a few measurements for me to take to the hospital with me. I very quickly figured out this wasn't standard proceedure and saw why they were doing this. When we went for the 20 week scan at the hosp. baby was showing as a bit on the small side but ok, basically just a couple of days smaller than it should be but now at 28 weeks it is showing at just over the size of 23 weeks. They are quite concerned about the lack of growth and told me to see the consultant asap. I am seeing him on Thurs anyway for a growth scan and won't be able to move that any closer but I will be popping into the hosp on Monday to speak with a midwife.
I've had a good look at whats what and there are loads of things that could be going on, including just being small. My main concern last night is that the placenta is not working properlly, this is worst case senerio of course, but on the basis of only being 28 weeks but measuring at 23 I'm curious what it would mean if this is the case. Surely they wouldn't want to deliver this early would they?
Since then hubby came up with the idea that my infections could have something to do with it, so I looked this up. It seems that although urine infections are common in pregnancy if they develop into kidney infections you could have a low birth weight baby. I know for a fact that I had 1 suspected infection that the hosp did nothing about, a second that took them over a week to treat and then a third which they missed and I pointed out to them, this one was definatly in my kidneys (had it before) but it took me quite a while to figure that out because I thought it was just my pelvic pain coming back at first.
Any comments, suggestions, advice etc on this subject greatly received.
In the meantime the kids did sleep out in the tent last night. We kept them up til 9.30 to make sure they were tired and the kids next door had stopped rattling the fence and shouting at us also it was starting to get dark then. They were really good. Took everything they might need, bottles of water, light, tissues, clock and countless fluffy toys. The lady next door came out to get her washing in about 10 mins after they settled down and I heard Joey ask what the noise was so Jason being all big brotherly got up with the light and investigated the garden, reported that all was safe and they went back to bed. We both expected them back in by 10pm but to my amasement they were clearly out cold by then and we didn't hear a peep out of them til 4am. Jason normally gets up at 4 for the toilet, he came in went to the loo and went back out again. A few mins later Jodie appeared shivvering saying it had started to rain and they were cold, so they brought pillows and teddies back inside and snuggled in their own beds and went straight back to sleep. Jason got up about 7am and hubby then went to get Jodie up as well. They have had breakfast and madam is back out there already. They want to do it again which is good.
