Winegirl, ;D
Yes I took this one in pregnancy, I heard it's meant to be the mildest one with fewest side-effects for both depression and anxiety.

Just to say Winegirl that my SIL is on it for anxiety/depression (not PNI) and it works very well for her with absolutely NO side-effects. If I'm right I think a few of the ladies on here are taking this one, so I'm hoping you get a lot of positive replies.
BTW the doc told me that Ciprilex is a newer version of Cipramil (citrolapram).
Hugs

Thanks Scarlet
I am keeping my fingers crossed! Yes it is a newer version, and more expensive, allegedly it should have fewer side effects (hmmm) we will see..

Hi
I heard the same as Scarlet above. My firend is on cipralex for depressuion (not PNI) and thinks it's amazing. Fingers crossed for you..... could you talk to a cpn. Often these people are far more clued up than gps about meds, their efficacy and side effects.
Love
Monica

New Super-Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor Cipralex (Escitalopram), Shows Superior Antidepressant EffectNew Super-Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor Cipralex (Escitalopram), Shows Superior Antidepressant Effect. The review, published in Psychopharmacology, outlines the collated results of numerous pre-clinical and clinical studies into escitalopram, and concludes that the superior results observed are partly due to the absence of a molecule (the R-enantiomer) in the drug, which had previously been inhibiting the action of the conventional SSRI, citalopram. Developing escitalopram without the R-enantiomer has really unleashed the true potential of the drug and positions it as unique within the SSRI class. source www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/9284.phpalso found this, apparently it was introduced in Sweden, and is approved in the EU. ~ Cipralex is a super-selective SSRI that consists of 100% active escitalopram ~ Cipralex 10 mg daily gives earlier symptom relief than Cipramil 20 mg. The effect can be seen as early as treatment week one. ~ Cipralex gives significantly better effect than Cipramil in the treatment of patients with severe depression. ~ Cipralex is well tolerated. ~ Cipralex has a minimal risk of interaction. ~ The price of Cipralex 10 mg is the same as for Cipramil 20 mg

I wanted to scream for you, when I just read you were having anxiety problems. It seems so unfair. I know you will stick with it, so lets hope it settles soon. My fingers are crossed for you.

Winegirl, Just to say that my psych said that with many of the SSRIs in the initial stages of taking them your symptoms will increase, especially the anxiety, and this is normal until they settle into your system. Sorry if I sound like broken record telling you what you already know, but sometimes it's nice to be told again just for reassurance.... Take care hun, and here's wishing you a pinker evening Hugs Scarlet X
