Anybody able to help with a tantrum throwing four year old. I mean major screaming and he is well able to talk I should imagine better than most of his age. I'm no push over and no means no but he still screams. I've done time out but he goes purple and trashes the room. I ended smacking him this morning but as we all know this dosent help. One day he was so reluctant to go to nursery he undid his belt and repeatedly hit me over the head with the car seat whilst I was driving. Any help would be greatly received.

He's testing the bounderies love....
Try not to shout too much so that he knows you mean business when you do....
Bribery and corruption.. ie ...Always have something for him to look forward too...which you can threaten to remove it he starts kicking off ie/friend too play,tv programme, trip to swings.
Praise, praise ,praise...What a good boy....I think your so sensible I think you could be trusted to do......
Counting works with Dylan though never did with Isabelle(she'd panic and cry)
Stickers on a certificate on the fridge...ie gets a sticker for being good and then when gets 5 or 10 he gets a comic...
Hopefully there might be something there which works for you....I used to put Dylan on the stairs when he was really kicking off and I wanted to strangle him...and when I calmed down ask him if he was feeling better then cuddle him....
I scare myself when I shout and always feel stressed after....my friend Aidy shouts all the time at her kids and they take no notice, after a day with her I'm so stressed and she says"Ah that was a good day."

No Idea There was a programme the other week were the mother stopped the car and left the kids at the side of the road and drove off!Sorry not very helpful...... We don't have a car so don't have that problem..... Sometimes I tell mine I'll do dreadful things to them....from chopping their heads off to beating them with a stick I suppose that's when they totally ignore me cos they know I won't...I hope....

see i was scared at the time , i thought we were going to crash and all die and so i shouted and pulled his arm , well ive never smacked my kids , im not a goody two shoes by that but i just fall apart and i cant stand raised voices and violence , im so sensitive to it all but that day i had to react for all our sakes , maybe i was being dramatic but it worked and was never mentioned again , he knew when i shouted it must of been bad i suppose
my dad used to drop us off at the side of the road in the middle of cornwall sometimes and we would keep walking and sometimes it would get dark but he found us eventually ,

At this age, it doesn't matter too much how you do it or if its a cheap toothbrush. You are just getting fluoride on their teeth and getting them used to having their teeth done so that its not a big issue when they get older. Jo loves having her teeth cleaned. Not done them in the last few days as her mouth is too sore.
